Product Review: Nekkid Kukui Nut Oil

I used to veer away from beauty oils as I was scared of making my skin oilier than necessary. But in the name of keeping away pre-mature aging and fine lines, I have been doing some research on beauty oils lately as I’d like to take my skin care regimen up a notch.

I stumbled upon an article a couple of months back that Lupita Nyong’o owes her flawless skin to Kukui Nut Oil–I was like, what the heck is that?! Luckily, the world is at our fingertips with internet and I was able to find a local seller for this unique beauty oil.

I was so happy that I didn’t have to buy this mysterious kukui nut oil from abroad… good thing Nekkid has this Hawaiian beauty secret accessible for us! God knows how hard it is to import liquid products since FEDEX has restrictions on liquids.

Nekkid, the brainchild of makeup artist Sabs Hernandez-Dy Liacco, is a skin and body care line that promises to keep your ingredients list at a minimum. Nekkid products are paraben and additive-free, vegan/vegetarian, all-natural, organic, and gluten-free using only safe and natural preservatives that will give the products a longer shelf-life. They don’t use harmful chemicals or colorings.

Kukui Nut Oil is easily absorbed by the deepest layers of the skin, and forms a protective barrier on the skin that protects against environmental damage. Kukui nut oil is used to treat sunburns, windburns, eczema, chapped skin, psoriasis, dry skin conditions, acne, scars, lesions and maturing skin. – Nekkid

So, going back to the oil, the Kukui Nut Oil has been historically known to be part of Polynesian’s beauty secret to help soothe dry skin, heal wounds, and moisturize dry, damaged hair. No wonder this multi-functional oil is one of Lupita’s best-kept secret.

What I like about this Kukui Nut Oil is that it doesn’t feel greasy on the skin. I noticed that Nekkid’s Kukui Nut Oil gets absorbed on the skin pretty fast. I’ve tried using this facial oil 10minutes before applying makeup during the day and my skin still turned okay.

When used at night before sleeping, my skin would feel really supple upon waking in the morning–without my skin being oily at all! Do you know why? This is because our skin will actually produce less oil if it is already nourished. But, of course, do remember to use this Kukui Nut Oil sparingly.

Since Nekkid keeps their products as simple as possible, without unnecessary fragrances, you get to experience the oil in its purest form. Thus, you have to be warned that the oil smells a little nutty–even my cats aren’t fond of the smell. Haha! But the smell doesn’t linger anyway, so it’s okay. 🙂

Nekkid’s Kukui Nut Oil is sold for Php700.00 per 25ml bottle. Shipping charges may apply. For more information, you may visit their website http://nekkidmanila.weebly.com to check out their products–I’m sure you’ll find something you’d want to try. <3
