This is something I don’t see everyday.
I checked out Eats More Fun in the Philippines in Megatrade Hall for some delish native goods and discovered this amazing tomato sweets. At the booth, they’ve got other products like Tamarind sweets and Kamias sweets, to name a few. Price ranges from Php 70-80.00
These sweets from Kababaihang Masigla ng Nueva Ecija (KMNE). The Kababaihang Masigla ng Nueva Ecija (The Zestful Women of Nueva Ecija) or KMNE operates in Barangay Ilog Baliwag in Quezon town, and is composed of around 30 farmers’ wives and retired teachers.
[Kababaihan Masigla] was organized in the year 2000 in pursuit of livelihood programs for farmer’s wives.
The abundance of fruits in season that are not utilized and left to waste inspired these farm women to produce naturally preserved fruits. With the abundance of rice in the province, the desire of the Novo Ecijanos to promote a rice-based products — the rice wine, serves as the mission of the KMNE to enhance productivity among rural folks, thus, generating employment and additional income to them.
