About “Following Jolla”
In 2005, Nokia began the Maemo project to create a new kind of pocket touchscreen computer. Maemo eventually fused with Intel’s Moblin to create MeeGo, possibly the most elegant and open mobile operating system so far.
Nokia only released one MeeGo-based device, the sublime and very well-reviewed N9, before a controversial change in policy made them switch exclusively to Windows. Fortunately, a plucky new company called Jolla decided to continue the good work done so far, and is due to unveil new MeeGo-based devices later in 2012.
Following Jolla is an unofficial look at Jolla’s progress.
