Samsung J1 – Your Efficient Basic Smartphone

Last week, I was having a hard time running things with my cheap MyPhone phone that I decided to upgrade it to a basic dual-sim smartphone that could let me do things more efficiently.

While browsing through all the available cheap locally-made and China-made smartphones, not to mention the amazing deals like 0% interest even for a Php3,000-Php5,000 worth phones, I realized it was really a touch competition for this budget-ranged entry-level phone market.

I ended purchasing this Samsung J1 because (1) at least it’s a Samsung–meaning the warranty and after-sales wouldn’t be that bad; (2) it’s really nice and thin; and (3) the price is just right.

First off, I love love love the 8.9mm thinness. It minimizes the participation in my bag’s clutter. Also, what I liked about Samsung J1 is that even if it’s a cheap phone, it looks quite presentable even in business meetings–because heck, all Samsung phones look the same anyway. It’s slim and pearlized, something that’s suitable for a budding entrepreneur like me. Lols.

Samsung J1 has a 2MP front and a 5MP rear camera. It operates in a Dual Core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A7, Mali 400 GPU based Spreadtrum chipset, and has 512 MB of RAM–but I don’t really care about that. Since it’s an entry-level phone, don’t expect it to run like an iPhone.

With only 4GB internal memory, you better keep your expectations to a minimum and save all the power-and-memory-draining apps to your primary phone. Oh, but you can always pop in a microSD card up to 128mb to give your memory a boost.

Battery life is okay. It lasts me for the entire day without needing to recharge even if wifi’s turned on all the time. Samsung J1 is available in Lazada for Php5,450.00 and you can choose from colors black, white, and blue.

Coool! I’m currently using an Alcatel phone my aunt got from her post paid plan, I think it’s okay but the camera is really bad and it also has a small memory and it crashes often. It also malfunctions a lot… But I can still call and text and listen to music so it’s all good 😀

My whole family has been a samsung user for years. We’ve used different Samsung phones and the latest we had was the Note3. The performance is superb, even the low-end ones perform well. It’s super durable too. I like the perks and features of the high end and mid range smartphones. But now, I’ve tried buying android one from Cherry mobile and so far so good. I still have to test it for months, I just got it first week of May. I wish it would last long talaga and meet my expectations. 🙂
