The use of essential oils to our pet pals has become increasingly widespread over the last few years. It is important to note that cats and dogs are much more sensitive to scents than their human counterparts. What you may believe to be an insignificant, fragrant scent may be overwhelming and harmful to an animal.

For small breeded dogs and cats, we recommend the use of single oils and hydrosols than using blends that we have no idea on their composition. Also, always be mindful of the individual oils included in the blend to make sure that each component is safe for your furpal.

Please keep your essential oil products away from your eyes. If needed be, they must be applied very carefully with your ring finger so they do not get into your eyes. Too much essential oil roller blends in your eye area can slip around whenever you blink and inevitably get into your eyes. Getting essential oils into the eyes or mucous membranes may also cause burning and damage in the area. If essential oils come into contact with the eyes, rinse them thoroughly with water and contact a doctor. 👀👀👀

Essential Oils in Your Mask? 😷

🔹 Make sure to use a washable cloth mask and not your disposable medical mask. Medical masks are normally lined with a plastic or polymer layer that may break down when exposed to pure essential oils.
🔹 Choose oils with little to no dermal limits.
🔹 If it has dermal limits, please dilute accordingly.
🔹 Place the drop of oil on the spot of your mask that is in between the tip of your nose and above your upper lip so it doesn't get into contact with your skin.
🔹If this is overwhelming, place the drop of essential oil right at the base of the mask where it would fall near your jawline.

EO Hack EXPLAINED ➡️ Essential oils do break down plastic. Pure essential oils are incredibly strong and contain properties that will break down most plastic over extended periods of time. Notice why your essential oil caps would start getting cracked after not using it for a while? Same reason.

Hydrosols are so much gentler and safer for children. Using too much essential oils with your child at such a young age can bring them closer to their sensitization point.

Salt does not disperse essential oils efficiently. Salt is water soluble while essential oils are oil soluble. We learned in elementary that water and oil don't mix.

When using essential oils as part of your bath soak formula, be sure to dilute it first with vegetable oil to disperse it properly and avoid EO injuries. Have a safe tub time with your oils! 💕

Reading is my happy place. I wish more aromatherapy books would have Kindle versions available. I wish I could understand German or French as I heard there are so many good aromatherapy books in those languages. 📚

Just stepped out of another ICAN meeting for the International Connections live sharing session. Tonight I picked Canarium luzonicum or the Manila Elemi.

Part of the assignment was to bring a plant or oil endemic to our country so I have my last C. luzonicum raw resin and my Elemi essential oil and hydrosol from @scireessentials with me to show during the meeting.

It's always fun to learn about other countries and, at the same time, share about what's unique from our own.
