Fitness Focus: Why I chose to go back to yoga with Yoga+

It’s been 5 years since I last had yoga. When I was in P&G, as a company that truly values work-life-balance, we had wellness programs to benefit the employee–which included super cheap in-office yoga classes–that’s Php50.00 per session!

Aside from the cheap rate, it was really convenient for me to just go down a couple of floors and attend the class every Tuesdays and Thursdays then go back up to return to work. Since transferring to other companies, I haven’t had time to squeeze in yoga or any other form of physical fitness activities. Now that I have all the time in the world again, I made a personal commitment to get myself back to yoga.

Call it serendipity when I saw Yoga Plus’ open invite for a 100-peso yoga session on Instagram last April 16 in their Fort studio. My heart skipped a beat and I didn’t hesitate to block my schedule to attend the class.

Needless to say, I enjoyed the class and before leaving the studio, I quickly enrolled for an unlimited 7-day class for only Php1,000.00. What’s good about this package is that it’s not exclusive to one studio. With this, I checked out their Ortigas studio since it’s closer to my place. They also have studios in Makati and DLSU Taft, FYI.

I made it to a point to do yoga daily, to make the most out of my unlimited 7-day enrollment. I wanted to try out as many classes as I can. I am now on my 5th day and here’s my Day 1 – Day 4. I will be talking about my different yoga classes in another post, after I finish my 7-day trial.

Here are a couple of reasons why I picked Yoga+:

  • Manduka yoga mats and towels are provided so you just have to bring yourself.
  • Alkaline water station is available so make sure to bring a tumbler–studies show that alkaline water is good for the body. When you are stressed, your body becomes acidic so you need to drink alkaline water to balance out your body’s PH level.
  • You can actually book classes through Yoga+ app and link in to your calendar.

If you ask as to whether I like BGC or Ortigas better, here are a few perspective:

  • BGC studio is newer and has a bigger practice studio.
  • Since BGC is newer, I prefer their shower room more. Plus, they have cool air blowers in BGC. I hate using hot air blowers as it frizzes up my hair.
  • I hate wasting time on traffic. Since Ortigas is closer to my home, I tend to visit BGC only when my schedule permits.

I love both studios but I would prefer to go to BGC if only it were more convenient from my place. Oh, and the Ortigas studio will be closed starting May 18 and will reopen by June in The Podium Mall, so I’m really excited for that.

Meanwhile, I also take time to hangout at Yoga+’s lounge area, to which I find BGC studio lounge better since they have all of these interesting selling area with loads and loads of updated magazines to kill your time.

If you are looking for the perfect yet affordable yoga studio this summer, I highly recommend for you to check out Yoga Plus. Good thing yoga+ came to DLSU and now, we have yoga+ express. While the class time only takes an hour (maybe to sync with our academic class schedules) for all practices (unless there is a posture clinic or other special session), we still get the same quality and intensity of yoga classes that are offered at yoga+ Ortigas, Makati, and BGC.
