I know it can get quite overwhelming and downright confusing to choose the right skincare routine, especially now that we have a whole universe of beauty products. What used to be the simple Cleanse-Tone-Moisturize might not be applicable at this day and age anymore.
Today, with the help of Shinagawa’s Celesty line, let me break down my morning skincare routine as I give you tips on what and what not to do in deciding what to incorporate in your daily skincare maintenance.
CLEANSE and TONE
Back to basics. Cleansing and toning will always be important. Most people are intimidated by this step called toning. Gone are the days when you should use a harsh astringent to tone your face. Now, there are different kinds of gentle toners or skin lotions that wouldn’t sting your skin.
I prefer using my Celesty Glow Whitening Cleansing Soap (Php1,350.00) as it gently cleanses my skin without stripping it off of its needed moisture. Plus, it has YH-15 extract with high levels of glutathione to keep my skin fair and even. I love using this daily with my Clarisonic to give my skin a good massage in the morning.
Toning is very important since it closes your pores after washing your face. I love using my DermaCelesty Luxe Pearl Lotion (Php3,100.00). It’s super gentle and has natural ingredients so you won’t have to worry about redness, stinging, or irritation.
NOURISH, MOISTURIZE and PROTECT
With all the free-radicals around us–plus stress, pollution, and whatnot, it is important to nourish and protect your skin. Moisturizing alone is never enough. During this step, remember to start with the product that is most light-weight to the most viscous.
I love massaging my DermaCelesty Wrinkle Eliminator (Php3,200.00) on my laugh lines to improve its appearance. It has 10% of Argireline solution, which is known to give the same effect as Botox. The Argireline is proven effective to eliminate fine lines and reduce wrinkles with continued use.
I skip heavy moisturizers and use my DermaCelesty Luxe Pearl Essence instead. Skincare essences are more lightweight and less concentrated than a serum, which makes it perfect for daytime or nighttime application.
Finally, I top my face off with my favorite sunscreen. Remember to use a minimum of SPF50 daily, even if you’re mostly staying indoors. You and your skin will thank YOU in the long run. Did you know that exposure to computer screens can still cause skin aging? So it’s important to use UVA/UVB blockers daily even if you’re mostly staying indoors.
I love using my Celesty UV White SPF 50/PA+++ since this thing dries down like a powder on your skin. It’s my favorite non-greasy daily SPF so it’s perfect for our tropical weather.
DON’T FORGET TO EXFOLIATE!
Since we use a lot of beauty products daily, be it for makeup or skincare, it is important to help your skin get rid of product build up and gently purge the nasty dead skin cells away. The key here is to use a gentle product with natural ingredients since most chemical exfoliators are known skin irritants.
I use Celesty Glow Whitening Peeling Gel (Php2,050.00) twice a week–every Tuesdays and Saturdays–to help remove dead skin cells. It is a potent yet gentle green exfoliating gel made of YH-15 extract, grapefruit extract, kiwi extract and grapefruit peel oil that thoroughly cleanse the skin to prevent acne and oil build up. It helps even my skin tone while leaving it smooth, resilient and moisturized.
I’m glad that I’ve finally settled with Shinagawa’s Celesty to make my daily skincare simple and worry-free. No more guessing game if my skincare would match with each other. No more risk of unsightly bumps and redness.
Here’s a quick rundown of how I do it in the morning:
I confess, I used to use so many different brands for my daily skincare routine. But I read that you shouldn’t mix brands especially if they contain active ingredients like retinol, glycolic acid, salicylic acid or peptides. While some may not experience irritation, it’s possible that these actives may be incompatible with the ingredients formulated from another brand thus you run the risk of having breakouts, irritation, redness and rash.
This doesn’t mean you should stick to one brand for the rest of your life. The key is to use up one active-ingredient product for a specific period of time then you can switch brands after. 🙂
